About

Dr Ashly Monson Mathew -Medical Officer-Blood Centre, Department of Transfusion Medicine, did her undergraduate training (MBBS) from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, under Kerala University of Health Sciences, and then went on to do her MD in Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion from B. J. Medical College Ahmedabad, Gujarat University.

After her MD, she joined as the Senior Resident in the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion in Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.

She is skilled in the latest developments in Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, and has regularly updated her expertise through workshops, research and CME. 

Expertise

  • Highly skilled in donor screening, medical examination, donor phlebotomy, TTI testing, apheresis procedures and therapeutic plasma exchange and serological testing,
  • Quality control, Documentation, stem cell collection, advanced red cell serology work up, antibody screening and identifications, problem solving in immunohematology.
  • Convalescent Covid plasma collection by apheresis, HPLC handling and interpretation, Hemophilia and Thrombophilia screening and workup.
  • Trained in automated cross match machine IH-500, automated blood grouping Diagast QwaIys-3 and Diagast Qwalys- Evo, and Bio Rad Evolis Automated Elisa processor 
  • Trained in fully automated coagulometer- IL Elite Pro from Instrumentation Laboratory
  • Trained in the operation of apheresis machines Fresenius Kabi- Comtec, F. Amicus, F.AmiCORE and Terumo BCT-Spectra Optia.
